Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually laid the foundation stone for the Agra Metro project. The inauguration program was held from 10 am on December 7, 2020, in the presence of the Chief Minister of UP Yogi Adityanath.
Foundation Stone Laid For Agra Metro Project By Narendra Modi
The Agra-Metro Project which was approved by the union government last year was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 8, 2020.
The PM laid the foundation stone of the project through a virtual conference keeping in mind the COVID-19 protocols. By laying the foundation stone Modi formally showed green light for the construction work to begin.
This project is worth around Rs 8000 crores and is expected to be completed within five years. The Agra Metro Project is a huge step towards infrastructural development in India. Being a tourist place, a metro project was a basic necessity in Agra.
Agra Metro Project Will Attract More Tourists, Says Modi
During his speech at the event, Modi spoke on the importance of the entire project. He said that the metro project is a very essential part of the infrastructural development in India.
Modi also added that India needs more projects like this to be as par with other countries which are rich in infrastructure. And primarily he focussed on the fact that Agra is a city that attracts a large number of tourists every year because it has full of heritage sites like the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and much more.
So this metro project will attract more tourists because easy transportation facilities are what tourists need. And this metro project plans to connect all the places of tourist attraction to the nearest bus and railway stations. Apart from that Modi also hinted that in the coming years India will see a huge wave of infrastructural development.
He also said that it will be made sure that these projects get approved as soon as possible with proper funding.
