Bappi Lahiri passed away at 69

Bappi Lahiri, an Indian music composer noted for his funky dance melodies and eye-catching fashion sense, died at the age of 69. Lahiri, who recovered from Covid in April of last year, has spent the past month in the hospital. He passed away on Tuesday.

Indians fell in love with disco thanks to Bappi Lahiri’s funky, foot-stomping music, and the entire country was dancing to his sounds. Politicians, cricketers, and Bollywood stars have all expressed their sorrow over his loss, with many reminiscing about their favourite tunes.

The death of Jhumpa Bappi Lahiri has upset Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr Modi wrote, “His death leaves a huge loss in the realm of Indian music.” “Bappi Da will be remembered for his diverse singing abilities and upbeat personality.”

Lahiri, also known as “Bappi Da,” is credited with introducing the disco ball to India.

His music for the film Disco Dancer ushered forth a new era of Bollywood freestyle dancing. It also made actors like Mithun Chakraborty into icons, immortalising him as a dancing legend thanks to his groovy motions to the bouncing synths.

Himmatwala, Sharaabi, Adventures of Tarzan, Dance Dance, Satyamev Jayate, and Shola Aur Shabnam are just a few of Lahiri’s other hit Bollywood films.
