BBC Komla Dumor Award 2022 set to launch

The BBC World News Komla Dumor Award, currently in its eighth year, is looking for a rising star of African journalism.

Journalists from all around Africa are encouraged to apply for the prize, which aims to discover and promote new talent on the continent.

The winner of BBC Komla Dumor Award will spend three months learning and working at the BBC’s headquarters in London. The deadline for applications is February 16, 2022, at 23:59 GMT.

The BBC Komla Dumor Award was created to honor Komla Dumor, a legendary Ghanaian journalist and BBC World News presenter who died unexpectedly at the age of 41 in 2014.

Kwansema Dumor, Dumor’s widow, told former recipient Victoria Rubadiri that she was “proud” of her husband’s contribution at the BBC and that her family was “thankful to the BBC.”
