Bruce Springsteen sells his music to Sony for $500m

Bruce Springsteen the most famous musician and rock star has sold all his music copyrights and recordings to Sony for $500m. His deal follows similar sales by Bob Dylan, Blondie, and David Bowie.

After this deal, Sony has the ownership of all his studio albums which is around 20. It also incorporates classics like Born To Run, The River, and Born In The USA.

Bruce Springsteen who is the 20 time Grammy winner has no rights over his music anymore. Last year his Springsteen’s music generated almost $15m profit.  His deal follows similar sales by Bob Dylan, Blondie, and David Bowie.

In September, Warner Work acquired the international rights to Bowie’s music, while in December of last year, Dylan sold his entire repertoire of over 600 songs to Universal Music Group for a reputed $300 million.

The agreements give immediate financial certainty to the artists and their estates, while the rightsholders expect to benefit by diversifying the music’s income streams through film and television licensing, merchandising, cover versions, and performance fees.
