Debdatta Chakraborty was named the overall winner of the 2022 Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year for an image titled Kebabiyana taken in India-managed Srinagar, Kashmir.
Indian photographers took pictures on busy streets at night. Vendors burned charcoal ovens to cook Wazwan Kebab and other street food.
“In today’s world, we need more security for love than ever before,” says Caroline Kenion, award founder and director. “There’s a lot here that can comfort us. Beautifully captured smoky hugs, golden lights, and the subject’s facial expressions as they prepare a shared meal.
“Sparks are flying from the skewers and smell like roasting. Imagine a warm and delicious scent. “This calm and powerful image nourishes our soul.”
Thousands of entries have been submitted from more than 60 countries around the world, and winners have been announced online through livestream events. Below are some of the winners in the contest category and a description by the photographer.
