He has also been associated with Duke and Havard universities as a professor.  People have given him the nickname of the natural heir to Charles Darwin.

He took his last breath in Burlington, Massachusetts on Sunday says  the EO Wilson Biodiversity Foundation

Although no cause of death has been provided, the foundation has announced that a memorial to his life will be held in 2022.

“The pure joy of the pursuit of knowledge was Ed’s holy grail,” said foundation president Paula Ehrlich. He was an expert in ants and ecosystems, and he advocated to stop the fast loss of biodiversity across the world.

EO Wilson, who was born in 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama, says he was always interested in the natural environment. His long-range eyesight was hindered after a fish’s fin sliced his eye during a fishing mishap, so he opted to focus on smaller critters so he could examine them up close.
