Fake vaccine registration SMS spreads says Cyber agency

Fake vaccine registration SMS that “maliciously” gains entry into a users’ Android phone leading to compromise of individual contact list is in circulation, the federal cyber security agency has alerted.

Cyber agency says that by at least five variants the the harmful SMS has been identified. It is said that the the Fake vaccine registration SMS which is spreading rapidly offers an app to let users register for COVID-19 vaccine in India.

the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In says that the SMS has a link with it which will guide to download the app on the android phone.

The app asks some unnecessary permissions which might disclose the personal information about the user such as contact list. The officials asks the people to register on the official link for coronavirus vaccination in the country is the portal– http://cowin.gov.in. It asked users to be alert.
