Fauci claims Trump’s campaign did not seek his permission while quoting him

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is the White House coronavirus advisor, said that the latest advertisement for Trump campaign has taken his words out of context and that his remarks have been used without seeking his permission.

“In my nearly five decades of public service, I have never publicly endorsed nor do I now endorse any political candidates,” Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, stated.

“The comments attributed to me without my permission in the GOP campaign ad were taken out of context from a broad statement I made months ago about the efforts of federal public health officials,” he said.

Truth about Fauci’s remarks

The ad backing President Donald Trump’s re-election effort, labelled “Carefully,” came out on Saturday and attempts to hype the president’s supervision of the coronavirus pandemic.

The ad features an excerpt from a video of Fauci saying that he “can’t imagine anybody could be doing more” where he is relating to the worldwide pandemic, which has been the reason of deaths of over 210,000 American citizens as per the statistics from John Hopkins University.

When examining the extent of the remark, it was seen that the excerpt was from a March interview where Fauci was referring to the entire federal government’s hard work and not directly praising the President.

Even then, the Trump campaign contradicted that the excerpt is from a nationally televised broadcast.

“These are Dr. Fauci’s own words. The video is from a nationally broadcast television interview in which Dr. Fauci was praising the work of the Trump Administration. The words spoken are accurate, and directly from Dr. Fauci’s mouth,” the Trump 2020 communications director, Tim Murtaugh stated.

Further claims by Trump’s campaign

Trump and public health advisor have had a capricious relationship. Perhaps, he is trying to exploit Fauci’s admiration amongst voters to ramp up his campaign reach.

Fauci

After the first presidential debate and Trump contracting the virus, Biden is leading in the national polls. The difference between the points of the two candidates has increased to 9.8% from 6.8% on Sunday.

USA recording 40,000 fresh cases of the virus in seven days also contributed to the reason why Trump has been dawdling.

A press release with a list of examples when Fauci praised the attempts of the administration to curb the spread of the virus was dispensed by the Trump campaign.

The campaign also stated that Biden’s claims to follow Fauci’s advises are uncertain as Biden has often disputed the health expert.
