The popular Swedish furniture and home goods store Ikea is all set to establish its second Indian outlet in Mumbai. It first ventured in India way back in 2018 with its first store in Hyderabad.
Mumbai is going to be the second Indian city to have the popular Swedish furniture outlet Ikea. The store will be inaugurated in Navi Mumbai on December 18, 2020.
The Swedish company has been trying to enter the Indian market for quite long. Its first venture was in 2018 when it the first-ever Indian outlet was established in Hyderabad. And now after doing a successful business in Hyderabad Mumbai will be its next stop.
The reason Mumbai has been chosen as the next destination for Ikea is that it is the financial capital of India and Ikea is expected to do a great business in the city. But this is only a beginning because the company is expecting to at least have more than 20 outlets all over the country.
As the company is planning to extend its business in India, it aims to employ a large number of Indian people. As per the CEO of the company Peter Betzel, the company will give employment opportunities to at least 6000 Indians in the coming few years.
He also added that the company will have 50% female employees because it has always been a true supporter of gender quality. Thus this furniture company has brought in a great opportunity for the business and financial sector in the country.
And the reason that Ikea has gained huge popularity in India within no time is that it caters to the need of the middle class. It deals in affordable as well as authentic and quality furniture. In other words, it understands the needs of the Indian middle-class population.
