Indonesia to Open Resorts in Bali in October, Aims at Strengthening Tourism Sector’s Economy

Indonesia is ready to open its doors to Bali; while the country resurrects its travel and tourism industry. However, only travelers from selected countries are allowed to visit the beautiful island. The country is following all types of COVID-19 protocols; taking all measures to contain the virus. A senior government minister; announced the news on Monday. The island must open its borders; for selected nations next week.

Indonesia will open its borders to tourism

Amid the ongoing pandemic situation; Indonesia is opening its Bali resorts to select travelers. The island nation is allowing travelers; from South Korea, China, Japan and the UAE next week.

However, reports suggest the country is taking every precaution; and following all COVID-19 protocols. The travel and tourism sector is an important source of revenue; to the country equipped with nature. Meanwhile, the industry suffered huge losses; since the outbreak of COVID-19. Therefore, the country decided to partially open its borders; for travelers from select nations.

Only travelers from selected countries are allowed to visit Bali

The country’s Minister of Maritime and Investment, Luhut Panjaitan; announced the new advisory on Monday. In his statement, Panjaitan announced that Indonesia; to open Ngurah Rai International Airport; partially from October 14th. However, only travelers from China, South Korea, UAE and Japan; are allowed to visit Bali for now. We had hoped that the country would also allow Australians, but they ended up not including them on the list. In addition, Australia was an important source of tourism in the island nation; before the pandemic. Furthermore, Panjaitan also mentioned; that they will follow all COVID-19 protocols, including regular testing. Travelers will also have to follow the necessary quarantine guidelines; upon your arrival.

Travel Guidelines

All travelers who want to visit Indonesia; you will have to pre-book your quarantine hotel; at your own expense. The Indonesian government; will not sponsor them at any cost. However, visitors will be required to quarantine for at least eight days after their arrival; during which they will undergo regular COVID-19 testing as well. So far, the government has not announced; any other guidelines. Furthermore, it is also unclear whether tourists can only visit the island; or if only those with a residence permit could come.

Situation of COVID-19 in Indonesia

Indonesia was one of the worst countries hit by COVID-19. The COVID-19 Delta variant was highly dominant in the country during mid-July; registering 56,000 cases in just one day. As a result, the government closed all unnecessary businesses; and implemented severe locks. In addition, Bali’s tourism sector was also hit hard by the pandemic. But now the cases have started to decline; while the country is increasing its vaccinations. The country reported 922 new infections on Monday; alongside 88 fatalities.
