iPhone 13, made in India Chennai plant, India

Apple has begun producing the newest iPhone 13 in India, bolstering the presence of one of the country’s largest technology businesses and catalysing the government’s Make in India drive. According to Apple, the iPhone 13 will be manufactured in Foxconn’s Sriperumbudur facility near Chennai.

With the recent statement, Apple has confirmed that all of its current iPhone models are now manufactured in India. However, if you’re hoping for a price decrease, Apple might not do it just yet.

“We are thrilled to begin manufacturing iPhone 13 — with its striking design, superior camera systems for amazing images and videos, and the great performance of the A15 Bionic chip — right here in India for our local consumers,” Apple said in a statement.

Apple’s Indian manufacturing partners, Foxconn and Wistron, are already producing previous iPhone models, but the phone will be manufactured first at Foxconn’s plant. According to a rumour, Apple’s third partner, Pegatron, is also slated to start production this month, although it may start with the iPhone 12.

Apple currently produces the iPhone 13, iPhone 12, and iPhone 11 in-house, however they are very basic models. Currently, none of the Pro models are made in India. Furthermore, Apple has stated that it will build the iPhone 13 in India for local customers, implying that the handsets created in India are unlikely to be shipped to other regions.
