Iran has been concern regarding the rise of delta variant COVID-19 cases in the country. Hence it made some announcements stating the fresh COVID-19 protocols.
A few months back, Iran had lifted COVID-19 restrictions as the country faced a decline in the COVID-19 cases. Things were almost back to normal in the country.
But suddenly the country has seen a major spike in COVID-19 cases, and the new delta variant has also been detected in several patients. This has made the government take some major decisions on the reimposition of COVID-19 restrictions.
The country is at larger risk because only 2% of the population has received the vaccine doses. And the rest are still at a higher risk. The country has 3.2 million COVID-19 infections and the death toll has climbed up to 84,000 which is a worrying sign.
The new restrictions were announced on July 4, just after President Hassan Rouhani’s briefing on the current situation the previous day. The President had expressed his concern about the delta variant of the virus.
So the new restrictions in Iran include a travel ban between cities, closure of places with mass gatherings like parks, restaurants, malls, beauty salons etc.
All the non-essential buildings in the country will be closed until further notice. There would be an increase in the testing rates so that the infection rate is kept at bay.
