Jacinda Ardern, New Zealand PM calls off wedding due to covid-19

Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of New Zealand, has canceled her wedding after the announcement of new Covid restrictions.

Following an outbreak of the Omicron variety, the entire country is scheduled to be placed under the most stringent Covid restrictions.

The limits include a cap of 100 vaccinated attendees at events and the wearing of masks in stores and on public transportation.

In New Zealand, there have been 15,104 Covid cases and 52 fatalities.

Jacinda Ardern told reporters on Sunday that her wedding to television presenter Clarke Gayford will be called off.

“I am no different from, dare I say, hundreds of other New Zealanders who have had even more terrible effects from the epidemic, inability to be with a loved one sometimes when they are gravely ill,” she said.
