Lucifer, a fantasy series streaming on Netflix, belongs among the most popular and trending shows on the platform. The production of the upcoming season was paused owing to the ongoing worldwide pandemic. The creators filmed and premiered the first part of season 5 and were in the middle of production of the second part.
With the new announcement, we now know that the second part has also been filmed and they cast and crew is ready to initiate the shoot for the next season. DB Woodside confirmed that the latest season will be having 10 episodes, as opposed to earlier reports which suggested an 8-episode run.
Joe Henderson is the executive producer of the show. He disclosed on twitter that the cast and crew has started production for the upcoming season which will the sixth season of the show. He expressed his gratitude to all the people associated with the show as they gave their best and all the preventive measures to curb the spread of coronavirus were taken.
Lucifer features the actor Tom Ellis in the titular role of Lucifer Morningstar. The other star cast comprises of incredible actors like Lauren German, D. B. Woodside, Kevin Alejandro, Lesly-Ann Brandt, Rachael Harris, Aimee Garcia among others. Ardent fans of the show have been on the edge of their seats wondering about the way the show will end after being loved and appreciated by people for the past five years.
We can anticipate to see the next season by 2021. Previously, this season was not supposed to be produced. Netflix came around to the idea of a season 5 and after that, the series was supposed to conclude. This is also the reason attributed to the fifth season having two parts and provided with a comprehensive season.
The excitement of the fans was soon extinguished as Netflix said that season 5 will be the last one for the show. Campaigns and petitions were commenced in the hope to revive the show further. The petition performed incredibly with more than 100,000 signatures.
Because of the petition, love of the fans and the fact that the show has been doing so well, Netflix renewed the show yet again for another season. This proves how passionate fans can make or break a series. As of the latest season, we are hoping to be able to view the show by early 2021, if we are fortunate enough. But keeping our expectations in check, we can anticipate it latest by 2022 as well. Till then, check out the official trailer of the show.
