Top of the list: Will the trials the Byrdes have gone through and the mistakes they’ve made will be worth it in the end?

The series premiere for Season 4 won’t air until sometime in 2022. But we do have some interesting details about the series’ fourth and final season! And we will continue to update this post as more news comes out.

Trailer for Season 4 of Ozark – Teaser

Want a teaser for the first episode? Netflix released the clip below in late September 2021 at its TUDUM event.

When will we see a complete Ozark Season 4 Trailer? For Season 3, the trailer aired in the same month as the premiere. And with no release date set yet, other than 2022, we may have to wait.

Ozark Season 4 Movie and Plot

Filming for the last season began on November 9, 2020 in Atlanta, GA. And although star Jason Bateman would direct the first two episodes of the new season, he chose not to this time.

“As normal, I was going to do the first two episodes, but as we went over the protocols, the guidelines, all the complications with COVID and my producer side it made me think that it’s just not responsible to have one of the actors direct the first two, since we’re still going to keep our perimeter secure,” Bateman told Indiewire in the summer of 2020. “Because if one of the actors gets sick, we’ll all have to go home for weeks. If one of the crew members falls ill – while I’m making sure their salary is protected while they’re in quarantine – we can hire a replacement. So it just didn’t seem smart to me [direct] the first two [episodes]. ”

Filming for the series is scheduled to end on October 8, 2021.

How many episodes can fans expect

We’re getting four extra episodes for Ozark Season 4! Fans can expect 14 episodes in total. However, there is a downside.

The last season is divided into two parts. So when Episode 7 airs, we’ll have to play the waiting game one more time. However, both halves of the season are expected to air in 2022.

“An oversized season means oversized problems for the Byrdes. I’m excited to end it with a bang(s). ” Bateman commented on the length of the season.

What bang is he referring to? What else can writers get past the Byrdes? He goes into more detail, saying how he was “interested in the big question [showrunner Chris Mundy] have the opportunity to answer: it’s them [the Byrdes] Are you going to get away or are you going to pay a bill? What does he want to convey to the public about the consequences of what the Byrdes did – or the lack of them? ”

unanswered questions

Ozark has a lot of ground to cover in these latest episodes. In addition to dealing with the aftermath of Byrde’s past conflicts, they must also face new dangers from characters like Omar Navarro (Felix Solis), Darlene Snell (Lisa Emery), Maya Miller (Jessica Frances Dukes) and Frank Cosgrove Sr. (John Bedford Lloyd).

Then there is the issue of children, Jonah and Charlotte. Marty and Wendy tend to forget about them all the time. And at some point, as we near the end, we’re sure it’s going to come back to haunt you.

But above all, Ozark Season 4 will have to answer the final question: Will the Byrdes family pay for their mistakes?

Was it all worth it? With all the headache and danger they’ve been crawling through, did the Byrdes end up building a life they’re happy with? Or was it all for nothing?

Chris Mundy expands on that sentiment Bateman shared with his quote for Entertainment Weekly.

“I think that [Season 4] it will be about whether Ruth can actually create something of her own that she wants and is sustainable, or whether she wants something else. And I think it will be about whether the Byrdes can turn the biggest mistake of their lives into this huge advantage, and how much karma will overtake them if they do? Mundy commented.

Each character has big decisions to make and the ghosts of their past to face.

The cast

Although details are still scarce for Ozark In Season 4, we can be sure of two characters who will not return: Ben Davis played by Tom Pelphrey and Helen Pierce played by Janet McTeer. Unless they reappear in some kind of flashback, we can safely assume that we won’t see these two familiar faces due to their deaths in Season 3.

Jason Bateman (Marty Byrde) and Laura Linney (Wendy Byrde) will also return Felix Solis, who plays Omar Navarro, the cartel’s owner.

Julia Garner (Ruth Langmore) will also return. Garner won two consecutive Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series awards for her performance as Ruth. So it will be exciting to see what she does with the character this past season! According to Billboard, rapper Killer Mike will make a special appearance with Ruth during the final season as well. And Damian Young will continue to play Jim Rattelsdorf.

new cast members

As for new additions to the cast, Alfonso Herrera (The Exorcist) and Adam Rothenberg (Mad Money) join for season 4. They will be regulars like Javi Elizonndro and Mel Sattem, respectively. Javi is Navarro’s nephew, who pretends to act as a loyal lieutenant but secretly plans to steal the cartel for himself. Mel will act as an ex-cop who will become a private investigator.

Veronica Falcón (Jungle Cruise) will join as Camilla, Navarro’s sister and Javi’s mother.

Finally, Bruno Bichir (Sicario: Soldier’s Day), Katrina Lenk (Tommy), Eric Ladin (American Sniper), Ali Stroker (Christmas Ever After) and CC Castillo (Outer Banks) will play recurring characters.

The Last Season of Ozark: The End of an Era

Since its debut in 2017, the series has received 32 Primetime Emmy Award nominations. And that ended in several wins for Bateman and Garner. While it’s always bittersweet to see a show you’ve loved come to an end, Ozark Season 4 promises to end the series by doing justice to its characters and answering the series’ central questions.
