PV Sindhu won her second women’s singles championship at the Syed Modi International badminton event in Lucknow on Sunday, defeating young compatriot Malvika Bansod in straight games.
Top seed PV Sindhu breezed through Bansod 21-13 21-16 in a lopsided final match, despite playing in a weakened field owing to many COVID-19 incidents.
The final was only 35 minutes long. It was Sindhu’s second Syed Modi championship, following her annexation of the BWF World Tour Super 300 tournament in 2017.
Prior to that, seventh-seeded Indians Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto won the mixed doubles title in straight games over compatriots T Hema Nagendra Babu and Srivedya Granada.
