Republic Day parade to be enlightened by the presence of UK PM Boris Johnson.

The beginning of the year marks for a very special event for the country that is the Republic Day. Although this year has not been great and the virus may stick around by the time we hit republic day the PM of India has a very special guest this year to enlighten us with his presence.

UK PM Boris Johnson has accepted the invitation to attend the republic day ceremony of 2021 with PM Narendra Modi. He is the second British PM to be attending the ceremony ever since 1993.

Johnson will be travelling to India early January not only for the ceremony but to discuss trade and business deals with the Indian government. It is believed to be a big honour for the country because his attending the ceremony is not just prestigious but also a mark for a new beginning of era for the UK-India ties. As an appreciation to Johnson accepting the invitation to the ceremony PM Modi will be visiting the UK to join the UK-hosted g7 summit next year.

UK foreign secretary Dominic Raab visited India from December 14-17 at a time when UK had been trying to negotiate with the European union post Brexit trade deal because of which UK is now looking forward to trading and joining hand with economies that are emerging to be leading like India. This is another reason why Boris Johnson has accepted the invite to attend the republic day ceremony.

The British officials shall also work with India over environmental issues and meet with the concerned minister of the same from India along with education minister. It is speculated that the British economy and market may hinder if it gets out of the EU without a trade deal. Boris Johnson is a very respectable and honoured man and his country has been one of the worst hit by the pandemic in response to which he is not looking forward to new foreign investments and tie knots with countries further in the field given he is backing out of EU. I am absolutely delighted to be visiting India next year at the start of an exciting year for Global Britain, and look forward to delivering the quantum leap in our bilateral relationship that Prime Minister (Narendra) Modi and I have pledged to achieve,” Johnson said in a statement.

“As a key player in the Indo-Pacific region, India is an increasingly indispensable partner for the United Kingdom as we work to boost jobs and growth, confront shared threats to our security and protect our planet.”
