Ronnie Spector, the most singer and lead singer of The Ronettes is no more with us. She died at the age of 78.
Ronnie Spector, the swaggering 1960s pop queen with the sky-high beehive whose sensuous, quavering vocals propelled a string of successes for The Ronettes, including “Be My Baby,” has died, according to her family.
“After a brief struggle with cancer, our darling earth angel, Ronnie Spector, quietly left this world today,” the family announced. “She was in the arms of her husband, Jonathan, and surrounded by relatives. Ronnie had a twinkle in her eye, a sassy attitude, a wicked sense of humor, and a big smile on her face.”
“Be My Baby,” according to Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, is the best pop record ever made.
Music royalty began to pay tribute to Spector’s abilities.
