Senegal’s football team receives land and cash prize

Senegal’s football team gets amazing prizes. Following their success at the Africa Cup of Nations, Senegal has given cash prizes and property plots to each player of the national football team.

During a ceremony at the presidential palace, each team member got more than $87,000 (£64,000) and plots in Dakar, the capital, and Diamniadio, the neighbouring city.

With spectators cheering outside the gates, President Macky Sall also inducted the squad into Senegal’s famous Order of the Lion.

The president had earlier congratulated the Senegal’s football team on reaching Africa’s “peak” and bringing “pride and honour that distinguishes great people.”

He also commended Aliou Cissé, the team’s coach. Senegal won the event for the first time in their history, defeating Egypt 4-2 on penalties.
