According to a media source, Shanti Sethi, a pioneering Indian-American Navy veteran, has joined US Vice President Kamala Harris’s office as her executive secretary and defence advisor.
According to the Politico news website, Vice President Harris’ senior advisor Herbie Ziskend, Sethi, the first Indian-American captain of a major US Navy battleship, just joined the vice president’s office.

Harris is the first woman and the first person of African and Indian ancestry to be elected to America’s second highest office. She is the daughter of an Indian mother and a Jamaican father.
According to USA Today, Sethi was interviewed for the job of Senior Navy Military Advisor to the Secretary of Navy at the end of February 2021, which she accepted.
“You transition through various degrees of ranks in the Navy, where you’re doing certain specific responsibilities, and then you reach the level where you command as a commander, and then you reach the level where you command as a captain,” Sethi told the newspaper in August.
