Who doesn’t love a show with mystery, thrill, action, drama, a humour camaraderie with the most talented actors? The same can be said for the popular BBC series, Sherlock. As he says, “Intuitions are not be ignored, John. They represent data processed too fast for the conscious mind to comprehend.” By the looks of the hints dropped by the actors and crew, it looks like our ‘intuition’ regarding the fifth season might be true!
What can we expect?
Although, there has been no announcement per say, for the fifth instalment of the Sherlock, hit series, we can expect the season to premiere in 2022 or 2023. Co-showrunner Steven Moffat said, “I haven’t really thought about it. Mark [Gatiss, co-showrunner]’s been doing other stuff as well, so we haven’t sat down and had a proper talk about what we would do with another series.”
Moffat and Mark Gatiss stated that they have been reading through Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s primary stories for the season’s insight.
Sherlock’s sister
As much as we’d love to see Sherlock and Dr Watson aka Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman reunite on screen, there can be some other additions to the cast as well. We were introduced to Sherlock’s sister Eurus Holmes in the last season, which ended in 2017. When asked Sian Brooke, the actress who played Eurus in the show, if she would like to be in the next season, she said, “It would be great, she is definitely a character I would love to revisit. You don’t get to play these parts every day, she’s abnormal and those sorts of parts are always great. There is definitely more to the mind of that character.”
Possibility of Sherlock Season 5
We anticipate that the fifth season will continue the story from where it ended in the last episode because there was just too much mystery there for us fans to digest. There has been no corroboration from the creators as of now which could give us more details into the much-awaited season of Sherlock. The release date or news regarding the trailer of the season has not bee confirmed yet. Even though Cumberbatch has been busy with other projects (Marvel movies) and Freeman too, the likelihood of another season seems bleak.
