Tokyo Olympics: Sydney McLaughlin has broken her world record in the 400m hurdle race. She has won a gold medal in the women’s hurdles race at the Tokyo Olympics. McLaughlin who is only 21 has turned off to the home straight to complete in 51.46 seconds as she trimmed just about half a second off the old record to pitch in fellow citizen and competitor Dalilah Muhammad.

she has defended Olympic champion Muhammad who is 31 and won silver in 51.58 secs.

Femke bol of Netherlands has won bronze after the ruling world champion.

”I can’t get over my world record. I will definitely operate it and will celebrate later” McLaughlin said.

McLaughlin has broken her world record in the women’s 400 m hurdles race by winning a gold medal at Tokyo Olympics.

McLaughlin magnificently decided her work in pursuing down Rio 2016 hero Muhammad, who set the early rhythm and still held a thin benefit over the last obstacle.

“The race doesn’t start until hurdle seven. I just wanted to go out there and give it everything I had,” said McLaughlin.

“I am obligated to be out here honouring that remarkable race and constituting my country. I saw Dalilah in front of me with one to go. I just convicted, ‘run your race’, said Mclaughlin.
